Twitter announced in late December last year that they would be rolling out Live 360 for their Periscope app.
For those who are unfamiliar with Periscope, it is a video streaming app that launched in 2015.
What this means for brands
Live sharing of Periscope videos would be perfect but not limited to brands or companies in the lifestyle, travel and fashion industry.
For instance, B2B (Business to Business) companies can use this feature to introduce their working environment - office, work space, employees, events, gatherings and company parties to their partners, potential customers and future employees.
It really depends what strategy one has chosen for a brand's campaign or communication efforts.
Going head on with the Juggernauts of Social Media
In a previous article, we compared Snapchat Live with Instagram Stories and it looks like Twitter is looking to up the game and attempt to capture more market share from the its competitors with a long-awaited improvement to its app capability.
Twitter still has a long way to go in terms of Live video sharing. It has a tenth of the share of Snapchat users and a piece of Instagram's pie even considering the fact that not all users on Instagram use the Live sharing function.
Number of downloads of popular Live video sharing apps
Periscope: 10 Million users
Snapchat: 100 Million users
Instagram: 1 Billion users
Facebook: 1 Billion users
Statistics: Google Play Store on Android devices, January 2017
When will 360 Live for Periscope be open to all?
Currently, Twitter is testing out their 360 broadcasts with a few partners, and will be releasing this feature to the public in the during the coming weeks. Depending your location, it would take some time for all users to finally enjoy this new feature.

Levelling up the social media game in 2017
It's exciting to see how social media channels will take things forward in the new year where video and user generated content on demand (live) is likely to take centre stage.
People prefer to purchase from brands that are personable and this age-old rule has not changed since.
The only difference is that the media landscape has become more fragmented and complicated yet at the same time easier to manage and manoeuvre around if you know how to approach each media channel carefully and correctly.
